eDia (Development of the Electronic Diagnostic Assessment System)

ICT provides new opportunities to revolutionize education, educational assessment and evaluation process. Thus, the development of such new generation educational assessment and evaluation technologies has begun which may lead to a significant change in educational assessment and evaluation in the short run. The use of the online electronic diagnostic system (eDia) developed within the project, may provide several new opportunities for teachers’ everyday work from planning the teaching/learning process to criterion-oriented evaluation of learners’ performance. A general browser and internet connection are sufficient for its in-class use. Compared to the previous ones, computer-based tests make it possible to use greater variety of item types: children can not only read the instructions to the items, but also listen to them, thus the tests can be used among learners who cannot read yet or suffer from reading difficulties. In
addition to sounds images, animations and videos make the items more colorful and lifelike. Learners can give answers to the items in varied forms;
