The first phase of the project involved establishing the scientific foundation for the diagnostic assessments to be conducted during the initial stage of school and preparing detailed frameworks for the three main assessment domains: reading, mathematics and science. The results of this work have been published in Hungarian and English, discussed in a wider range of professional forums and put into practice. Frameworks must be regularly updated due to both the rapid accumulation of research findings and experience from application; therefore, in the second phase the processing and application of the latest scholarly developments takes place. An other aim of updating and expanding the frameworks is to provide more effective support for the development of the electronic item bank.
To this end, we more precisely identify the skills and competences to be assessed, application contexts and disciplinary contents, as well as describe the object of the assessments in greater detail. Towards a more detailed analysis independent teams deal with the dimensions of the assessments and present the aspects of psychology, application and discipline in separate chapters of the volumes.
